Desperately trying for a home

Desperately trying for a home We give the animals in the shelter as much time as we can but Cole a 5 month old German Shepherd didn't think this was enough because one Saturday morning he decided not to wait for everyone to arrive he was going to get out and greet them!

Cole thought he could outwit the safety door on the front of his kennel and he proceeded to squeeze himself through it

The inevitable happened and Cole got stuck. On our arrival we found him hanging through the bars, stuck fast and was having trouble breathing.

A volunteer took his weight and he began to calm down but no amount of effort got him un stuck

The fire brigade had to be called, they arrived within 10 minutes and began freeing this would be escapee.

He was freed without injury thanks to the fire brigade and has gone on to find a new home.

Well Done Fire Brigade.

Sylvester

Sylvester Sylvester was featured in the Hull Daily Mail some time ago after being found in long grass malnourished and in a very poor state of health. His story is also told on page one of our 'Happy Endings' Section.

Well two years on and his owner entered him in a competition at Driffield Show and he got the runner up prize

Well done to Sylvester

Cat In A Box

Cat In A Box As you will already have read we are full to the brim with cats, so when one arrived unexpectedly it caused a few problems.

One of our volunteers was sat outside having his lunch when he saw a car pull into our car park, the driver was carrying a cardboard box. He assumed it was someone bringing a donation and took little notice. After the car had left he noticed the box was just left in the car park and he became suspicious.

He went across to invesigate and found a poor cat fastened inside the box. People are cruel and heartless sometimes and do just as they like with their pets.

We called her Carrie and fortunately she has found a new loving home.

Abandoned in a Wheelie Bin

Abandoned in a Wheelie Bin A man was on his way home, when he stopped in a layby he heard cries coming from a bin.

On investigation he found a mum with four kittens in a rubbish bin. He brought them to us. They are very under weight and were running with fleas.

At least now they are safe but they are very bewildered after their trauma.

We will keep them in a foster home until they've had a check up from the vet, have become settled, more confident and put on a little weight.

After that they will all be looking for new homes.

Benji

Benji Pretty little Benji was subjected to an extremely cowardly act when he was dumped in the tip at Stoneferry in a small makeshift cage with his name written boldly across it.

The operator of the very large crusher spotted him just as he was about to crush the contents of the makeshift cage.

He was brought to us by two very kind people. His life was saved........if you do not want your animal DO NOT HARM THEM.....someone else may have the time for them.

Oscar's Story

Oscar's Story Lenny as we called him arrived at the centre 18th December 2010.

A stray from the Gilberdyke area, obviously belonging to someone as he was friendly and used his litter tray. He was being fed by cat friendly people in Gilberdyke but they felt he needed his own home and they brought him to us for re homing.

And there Lenny remained waiting for someone to choose him.

Yvonne visited 13th February and spotted Lenny. LENNY WAS HER CAT :

“We collected our cat Oscar (you had named him Lenny)  yesterday after losing him over 4 years ago. Still can't quite believe we have him back as we had given up hope a long time ago.

As he is now 12 and we don't want to risk ever losing him again he will now be a house cat.

He has settled in as if he has never been away and I don't think he has stopped purring yet. every time I sit down he is back on my knee for a cuddle. Even meeting the dogs again didn't bother him.

Our new kitten Tom is not very impressed with the return of Oscar but am sure they will soon settle. Everyone has had a few treats to help the process :-)

We will send in a photo or two when he is settled.

Thank you all for looking after him, we are very grateful and will be taking him to visit the ladies who had been feeding him"

Yvonne

PS I think he should be called Lucky Lenny
