Jack
This is Jack a lovely friendly cross lab that was adopted from hawt in 2006 by my youngest son John who owns Beverley Motor Factors. Jack had only been taken in to hawt that day as his previous owner’s marriage broke up and they were unable to keep him.
Jack goes to work with John, has his own chair and has "elevenses" with them all. He is so lucky and happy. They have a spacious house and masses of land for Jack to exercise in but he also goes walkies too. Johns children Danielle 13, Leah 11 and Alfie 9 all adore him and they are all being brought up to be kind to all creatures. Just as I would have wished it, being in my book, a parents responsibility.

Megan ad Ben
Hi Hull Animal Welfare, this is Megan and Ben (on the right)who were adopted by us late November 2001 as eight week old pups. Meg and Ben are a brother and a sister out of a litter of eight born October 4th 2001, six boys and two girls.
Their heavily pregnant mum was taken in by one of your volunteer helpers and the pups were featured on the front page of the Mail.
Megan and Ben have always been for long walks and runs on Swinemoor Pastures and along the River Hull but this last year Megan has been diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament in her left knee and her running days are over but she still manages Swinemoor Pastures daily, though not as far afield. Ben has developed epileptic fits and has had four in about eighteen months.
They are very friendly and share their home with fifteen cats and also with twelve lagomorphs (bunnies to u!!), ten of which were adopted from the HAWT last year.
Megan has always been very timid and it is in her genetically as Ben is not and they have always shared the same environment. The other bitch went to live at Woodmansey and two of the brothers went to share a home at Alborough. I wonder if any others have developed epilepsy?
All my eight grandkids are good to animals and M and B love them coming as they like the fuss. We love them to pieces. We automatically call ourselves mam and dad, y,know, go to your dad, etc etc.
Eileen and Nigel
P.S. My sons also have adopted hawt dogs.

Twelve Happy Rabbits
All the six rabbit set ups each contain a pair of neutered paired rabbits, paired by HAWT.
From the left resides
Giles and Bess
Dottie and Rory
Caris and Daniel
Gwyneth and Taffy
Coke and Cola and then facing a different way are Madeleine and Harry.
Ten of these bunnies were adopted from the HAWT from Februay 2008 up to May 2009. The two that did not come from HAWT are Gwyneth (she was an unwanted from a neighbour) and Caris who we adopted from the RSPCA as a friend for Gwyneth and being two females they wouldn't get on.
We attended a rabbit biology evening at the vets and afterwards Linda your rabbit (lovely) lady was there with photos of all the homeless rabbits and we opted to take on Giles and Bess and Coke and Cola. That made 6. But then Gwyneth was taken onto neutral ground to have Mr Mole (we changed that to Taffy) as a pal and then Caris to be palled up with Daniel.
Meanwhile we were asked to house Dottie and Rory for space whilst these palling ups occurred but of course we fell in love with D and R and so they stayed. That was ten.
Some three months ago a couple of thin rabbits were on a bad thing in a nearby village and were being shunted around and had no exercise space and so we adopted those too and had them neutered. Madeleine was pregnant to her brother Harry but all is sorted now. So now there are twelve.
We love them to bits. They all have permanent safe attachments to their runs whatever the weather. In heavy rain we put tarpaulin over and in hot sun we half cover them for shady areas to escape to. Sammy the tabby and white cat on top of shed turned up here in February 02. There is a story there too. Sammy loves all the rabbits and he seems to look out for them.
Love from Mr and Mrs G.

Marvin
Hello
This is a photo of Marvin who we adopted from you on June 13th 2009 he was known to you as Hepsibar.
Marvin settled down so quickly and is enjoying his new home and surroundings. He is very inquisitive and quite a handful at times. He has climbed through our neighbours bedroom window via the kitchen roof, fell into their fish pond, climbed out of our second floor bathroom window onto the porch and sat outside the front door waiting to be let in. He has a thing about my wife’s toes and takes any opportunity to bite them if given a chance.
For all the bother he gets into we love him to bits and thank you for giving us the chance to give him the home he deserves.

Sammy
Here are a few photos of our lovely Sammy, we adopted her from you in April 08, she had suffered a broken pelvis in a road traffic accident but we fell in love with her as soon as we saw her.
We brought her home, just around the corner in South Cave and she soon settled in and made herself at home.
Moo Moo (or Sammy as she is now known) is a real character, she meows to announce her arrival through the cat flap all the time and even follows Laura on her way up to school.
We love having her as part of our family, even when she brings in presents erghhh!
Thank you for taking care of her and giving her a second chance in life x
Caroline & Laura (and Chris & Paddy)

Kira
Hello,
I just thought I'd write to you with our happy ending for our dog Kira who we adopted from Hull Animal Welfare last Christmas.
Two weeks before Christmas 2008 we lost our beloved German Shepherd dog Sadie from a tumour on her spine at the tragically young age of two and a half. Our whole family were devastated and managed to survive a whole four days before thinking about getting another dog to fill the huge gap that Sadie had left in our lives.
We decided to rescue a dog and so begun our search of all the local rescue centres to find a new companion for our family. We visited a few rescue centres but hadn't yet found a dog that we all agreed on!
We called in at Hull Animal Welfare and a young white retriever/collie cross called Kiara literally jumped out at us, she went barmy every time we walked passed her kennel and so our minds were made up!
She had been left with you for re homing after her original owner was unable to cope with her due to ill health. We adopted Kiara and brought her home a week before Christmas. She brightened our Christmas up so much although obviously we still missed Sadie but Kira (we couldn't get our mouths round Kiara so shortened it to Kira!) was intent on cheering us up! She settled straight in and we haven't looked back, she steals our seat on the sofa every night ..... despite her having a bed of her own the sofa is always warm in the morning when we get up! She loves our large garden in the countryside and her twice daily walks and even our cat has fallen in love with her letting her wash him and greeting her every day when she's been out for a walk.
Thank you for the work you do at Hull Animal Welfare, your animals are well looked after and do your utmost to find them good homes. Our life would be a lot emptier without Kira.
Best wishes
The Nixon family!
