Sheba
Hello everyone.
Thank you for looking after me when I had to stay with you, I was called Dana at that time. You were all very kind to me but I really wanted to have my own Mum and Dad.
A man and a lady wanted to get to know me. I bit the man and I did give the lady a lick but I wasn’t sure. Then they came back to see me again and again and on 30th January 2009 took me home. Wow – I had a beautiful soft bed, toys, my own garden and a new name SHEBA. This is the name of a Queen and I certainly feel like one.
I have taken a while to settle in with my new Mum and Dad and have met my Nanny and Granddad, Aunty Judy and Uncle Barry and lots and lots of lovely friends of my Mum and Dad.
I didn’t think life could get any better until it was a time called Easter. My Mum and Dad took me away in the car with something called a caravan attached. We drove quite a long way and then I found myself in new surroundings. Apparently I was on HOLIDAY! All I can say is that I had a great time and can’t wait to go on holiday again. I had lots of walks, paddled in the River Swale, met some lovely people, had lots of treats and had a new extending lead which means I can investigate much more. I still have to learn how to come back before my Mum and Dad can let me off the lead but this is “work in progress”.
I have put on some weight and need to put on a bit more, but I do keep asking my Mum if my bum looks big in this! What do you think?
Anyway I have sent you some photographs taken while on holiday. These were taken at Easby Abbey in North Yorkshire.
I hope everyone who has to stay with you gets a great home like mine where “LOVE” is the word of each day.
Lots of love to you all
SHEBA

Poppy
Hi
I just wanted to give an update on the cat I adopted.
I adopted Poppy (previously named Hermione) at the end of March after losing my cat Molly to cancer. Poppy was one year old and had been a stray that had been brought into the shelter. When I visited the centre I couldn’t decided between her and another cat but when I came home to have a think about it, it was her that I kept thinking about.
She has settled into her new home very well. Within the hour of arriving she had taken up residence on the bed and that has been her spot ever since.
She is full of mischief and loves to play, especially jumping out on me when I am walking past. She also loves to sit on the windowsill at the front and just watch the world going by but to help her do this she insists on the blinds being pulled up. She does this by pulling them down so they make a noise until I put them up.
She is a little treasure and I can’t imagine her not being here.
I have attached a couple of photos to show her in her new home.
Love Anna

Lola
Hi there, I came about April 2009 and adopted Lola the Beagle from you all at Hull Animal Welfare.
Just wanted to let you know that she's settled in really well and gets on great with my other dogs Molly and Harvey, they are all tiring each other out chasing round the garden!! She has a really cheeky, fun personality and her loving side has just grown and grown over the weeks, she loves her cuddles when watching tele at night!!!!
Despite being destructive at her previous homes, she hasn't chewed or nibbled anything here, think Molly and Harvey are keeping her too entertained!!
Thanks for giving me the chance to give her a new home, Jennie x (Lola sends big howls!!!)

Smudge
A tiny little kitten was found wondering in gardens in North Cave. He must have been about six weeks old.
Our Assistant Manager, Amy, fostered him until he got over his cat flu, was old enough and strong enough to be re homed.
Named Smudge, he now lives with Amy's best friend in Holme on the Wolds. He has just begun to venture outside and loves climbing trees and chasing his ten year old friend (also from the trust as a kitten) who is called Mervin.
Smudge has a puppet lion which his dad puts on his hand when they are playing. Smudge attacks this like he wants to kill it and amuses himself for hours.

Muffin and Womble
Muffin and Womble arrived at our centre as the 'unwanted' Jessie and Sasha.
They were unwanted until seen by Victoria and Shaun who took them home, Victoria says:
Just wanted to keep you up to date with our girls re named Muffin and Womble.
Had them since 14th of Feb 09 now. We had our first camping trip last weekend, we all went up to Goathland and on the following day Whitby. We couldn't have asked for better dogs. They are a true delight. So well behaved on camp site and when walking around large crowds of people in Whitby.
I came to the centre back in February 09. I had lost my beautiful Oscar a black lab on 16th of December he was eleven and would have been twelve in January, I lost him to cancer and it totally broke me. Oscar was like my child, and I still think about him every day.
I came to the centre as I had heard what a wonderful job you all do and during the financial climate it has been widely advertised how dogs were suffering and losing their homes.
I do find it hard to think how anybody could part with their pets. I would have moved mountains, sold everything I own to have kept Oscar.
I like to think that he would be happy knowing that Muffin and Womble are now in a good safe loving home.
The girls have done so much for me. Apart from eating the odd pair of shoes and more recently eating a rather nice pair of jeans from the washing line which obviously proved to make a fantastic swing!!!
Thank you so much for all your hard work. I really don't know how you all do it!!!!
Lots of love Victoria, Shaun, Muffin and Womble xxxx

Jiji and Lulu
Lenny and Jenny were rescued from a housing estate in January 2008. They were very timid little creatures, Lenny hid behind his bed and Jenny climbed into the top of the enclosure whenever anyone walked past.
Cristina took them home at the end of January 2008 re naming them Jiji and Lulu. They spent their first few days hiding behind the fridge and under the bed.
Now they are boisterous, loud, inquisitive little characters that like lots of attention. They have worked out how to opens internal doors, boil the kettle and flush the toilet and regularly unnerve my house guests doing so! They will lick the jam off any and everyone's toast if it's left unguarded and if they suspect I am going away they will sit indignantly in my suitcase!
They were such timid nervous cats and it took them many months to settle in but it has worked out wonderfully, the are such amusing, affectionate and loving little characters now.
