Sox
Pippin was in our cattery about 2005 after being found alone in an empty house. That is until Melissa came along and saw her.
Melissa:
I came to the centre four years ago "looking" at the cats, I wasn't really allowed to get one!
The first pen I went to there was a little black and white cat called Pippin, she had been found in a house alone, she had a noticeable bad left ear which looked like it had been burned. That day she came home with me and my partner, she was then renamed Sox.
Last year she was diagnosed with a heart condition which she was then medicated for and has been a happy normal naughty cat.
In the early hours of Monday morning 2nd February 2009 we had to have her put to sleep, she had suffered a stroke. I'm absolutely devastated but she has left such an impact on me, especially because of how much love she had.
I just want to thank everyone at the Trust, because without you been there I would never have found her.
This is the only photo I have of her where she doesn't look grumpy because she has been woken up by her brother or sister.

Mitzi
Julie, Stuart and their son Paul have had Mitzi the Jack Russell cross since the end of December 2008. They say she has settled in so well its like they've always had her.
When it's bedtime she lays on a blanket on our bed and snores. She loves going on the beach and and we've more stones in our house than Hornsea beach. She will play all day retrieving her toys and stones. Mitzi loves going in the car, she is a very happy dog and me and Stuart and our son Paul love her so much. Mitzi is so loving and when walking her people stop and say how adorable she is. Rescuing Mitzi is probably the best thing we've ever done.

Biff
My Grandad (Philip)adopted Biff from the Hull Animal Welfare Trust a few weeks ago. My Grandad and Grandma were totally smitten when they first met him at the kennel.
My Grandad's last dog Jasper also came from the kennel about ten years ago, unfortunately Jasper had to be put to sleep due to a tumour in his bladder. My Grandad was devastated, Jasper wasn't only a family pet to him, he was his best mate (an excuse to get out of the house at times too).
Biff and my Grandad have struck an instant bond and they now both go off together walking the highways and parks around Beverley. Biff's favourite location is the old disused railway line although he also gets to roam around the Beverley Westwood too as an extra treat.
He visits my parents house twice a week in Holme Moor to meet up with my mothers two dogs, Sophie and Darcy. They have a big orchard and paddock that all three of them run around freely in.
Biff as you know loves his football and we have all been trying to learn some new skills from him when we can. In all my Grandad and Grandma are smitten with Biff and he is given them both a new lease of life!

Pumpkin and Pebbles
These two tiny, tiny kittens had the worse start in life possible. Someone dumped them in a bag near a landfill site in the South Cave area.
Luckily for them refuse collectors stopped to pick up this 'rubbish' and found them.
The came to us and Julie kindly fostered them until they were old enough to be re homed.
Pumpkin and Pebbles have contacted us to let us know just how their lives are progressing:
Hi my name is Pumpkin! Hi my name is Pebbles!
This is subject to change as our new owners' are not sure they can remember them! (Old age!) We don't really care but wish they would make there minds up!
We are both five months old, we were found by the dustbin men in October 2008 - we had been put out with the rubbish on the road between South Cave and Market Weighton - we were only weeks old then!
Luckily the bin men heard us crying (it was freezing cold!) and put us into the cab and after work took us to the Hull Animal Welfare Trust who looked after us until January when Val and Roger spotted us on the internet, took a fancy to us and took us home!
We have just started the process of wrecking their home - he! he!
In between wrecking the house and eating we do like to sleep a lot to get our energy back before we start again!
Its great fun and much better than being in the kennels! - hope they will keep us cos we quite like them!
Love Pumpkin and Pebbles

Sacha and Porter
This is Porter and Sacha (she's the white one).
Sacha is about twelve years old now (2009). We adopted her from the Animal Welfare Trust at South Cave when she was about one year old. She had only been in there a couple of weeks before we got her. She was found on the streets but we don't know where. Straight away she fitted into our family well and has been a loving and faithful pet. When we got her we had sadly lost our first dog who we had for fifteen years from her been five weeks old so Sacha helped the family to come to terms with the loss and although she has never taken the place of our first dog we love her very much.
Porter is about seven years old now (2009) we adopted him when he was about a year old. He had been in the kennels for quite a few month before we got him. He was very depressed and had his head down all the time. The staff had taken quite a shine to him and they had called him Porter because he had been picked up in Porter Street. He soon settled into our family and liked Sacha although Sacha wasn't that keen on him, taking away some of our attention from her. She also thought he was a bit slobby as she was quite a Lady.
They both get on well now like brother and sister, sometimes play fighting over each others toys. Sacha is certainly the boss. They both love going away with us in our caravan and love the beach.
They are both two very different characters and we love them both very much.

Morton
In 2008 a young dog named Morton arrived at the kennels after his owner had died. He is a Labrador and although usually popular dogs Morton was with us longer than we expected, that was until the Dingley family came up to view. This is what they have to say:
Hi,
Thought I send you an update on Morton - the black Labrador. We came to have a look at Morton in January after seeing his handsome photograph on your website. It was love at first sight!!!!!!!!!!
He came home with us on January 17th and we haven't looked back. He has settled in so well, is so well behaved and adored by myself, my husband but especially my two teenage sons.
Morton loves a game of footie in the park and walks along the beach at our caravan. As big as he is he loves curling up on my knee in the chair on an evening to watch our TV
My husband was a bit apprehensive that he had not been homed before we saw him but we must say that is to our gain!
As soon as we got home, he found an old ball in the garden and put it down at our feet so we could throw it for him!! He settled in straight away, has always slept in his bed (goes straight to it when the telly is turned off on a night!), and is very loving to our 84 year old great-grandma!!
He is a very well behaved dog, we have never had any 'accidents', he sits and lifts a paw before he has his food or a treat - and we didn't teach him that, he just did it.
He is a joy and we couldn't imagine life without him.
