Cody, Bryn and Rory
These three dogs live together in Cottingham together with a German Shepherd. Their owner, Amy, tells us their stories :
Cody the white border collie at the front of the photograph came to the trust from a home who could no longer take care of her. She is an incredibly intelligent dog and loves to do doggy agility and is the boss of the pack!!
Bryn is the other collie at the back. He was dumped on Hessle foreshore at five weeks old on a freezing cold Christmas Eve morning. He had a damaged leg due to being dumped and was suffering from hypothermia ....that was back in 2002. He is the loyalist dog anyone could wish to own. He is obedient and all he asks for in return is a lot of love and cuddles.
Rory (called Bart at the centre) was the longest stay at the Trust when I took him on. He had been there eight months which was then half of his life. He was originally a stray but being a rather plain back dog he was always over looked. I took him in April 2008 and he has come on leaps and bounds. He has filled out and gained muscle which has made him into a HANDSOME YOUNG MAN. He has some lurcher in him so he prefers to spend the day by the fire, in bed or by the radiator.

Bailey
Ducatte came to us as part of an unwanted litter of puppies. He was chosen by Joe and has settled well.
'Bailey is growing sooo fast he is eight months now, we are thinking of getting another dog that's a bit older than Bailey to keep him company at night or when we are all out.
Bailey has no bad habits really but he sometimes digs up the garden, he has stopped that now though, we take him to obedience classes on a Saturday he is great on the lead too. We live next to a huge park for Bailey to run around in off the lead. I have just taught him to walk next to me with no lead I can walk all the way around the park with him at my side and I can go across the road with him by my side and I am 13 so I can
be trusted by myself.

Oliver
I use to live in a flat and I was left on my own all day but things have changed for me. I went to the Hull Animal Welfare and they found me a new home. This is me now, much happier, sat by the fireside.
I left the centre as Magic on the 3rd November 2008 but now I'm known as Oliver which I much prefer. I spend the nights by the fire with my new family, ooh it is lovely.
I've tried to be really good and everyone fusses over me, so I guess they all love me. I spend my days eating, sleeping and going on lovely country walks.
I have a new friend too, Darcy the horse, she lets me lick her face and legs so I think she must like me. The only thing I'm afraid of is going out in the car but that's only because I think they are taking me away from my lovely new home, its only when they bring me back here I'm all happy again.
I hope all the other little dogs looking for a new home are as lucky as I am.

Gunner and Lucy
We got Gunner in Christmas 2006 - although he really chose us. I'm a sucker for a sad face. We decided just over a year later to get him a companion and Lucy literally jumped out at us! Where Gunner is laid back, Lucy's very excitable but they muddle along just fine. We are very lucky to have these two fantastic dogs. They love a long walk, as long as its not raining too much, and love a good snooze possibly even more!

Molly
Toffee the spaniel lost her home and came into Sunnydene as a result of a marriage breakdown. There were three dogs in total, here's the story of one of them.
Toffee was adopted by Sylvia at the beginning of 2008 and re named Molly. Sylvia tells us that she is a lovely dog and gets on well with their other dogs and cats. She loves long walks along the old railway line to Hornsea. She is very loyal and follows her everywhere even in the bathroom. Even as Sylvia was sending us her email she was lying at her feet under the table. She has settled very well and is a very good house dog, barking when people come to the door. She loves digestive biscuits for supper just before she goes to bed but is on strict instructions from the vet not to have too many as she is a bit on the chubby side.

Sadie
My Husband and I adopted Sadie in October 1998. She was then approximately 18 months old.
She quickly settled in and was soon making mischief and a lot of mess whenever she was left alone.
Since then our three children have come along and Sadie now aged 13 continues to be be unfazed by anything. She loves nothing more than having her tummy tickled by the children and going for walks on the beach. These days the walks are shorter but the Collie in her still rounds us up.
Sadie is such good companion and a much loved family member. We could not have wished for a better dog and we hope she is around for many years to come.
