Happy Endings

Alfie

Alfie I'm Alfie from Animal Rescue aka Junior

I’ve come to live with Mike,
Not bothered about the others,
He’s the one I really like.

I admit the others are very good,
They are friendly and they’re kind,
But if you come to visit,
By Mike’s side, it’s me you’ll find.

I follow him quite closely,
Try to keep within my sight,
He goes somewhere every morning,
But he’s back again each night.

He should ask for much more freedom
Like Lin, be home all day
We’ll greet each sunny morning
With a hike and then some play.

Along cliff paths and coastal walks,
Down dale, up other side,
And when I’m feeling tired,
In the car I’ll happily ride.

So I have begun their training
To do whatever I choose,
They are quick to learn the process
Whichever method I use.

My cushion is quite comfy
Though I prefer a proper bed,
My dinner’s very tasty BUT
I’d like a juicy steak instead.

We get along so easily
I’m glad I chose these four
Now it’s time for me to sit with Mike
And in unison we will snore!

Alfie

Alfie Hello
Another poem from Alfie (aka Junior when he was with you). He came to live with us in March 2009 and is loved by whole family.

He goes to obedience classes now where he has learned to bark the loudest. No, joking apart, he is doing very well and has settled down -except where the postman and paper-boy are concerned!

Hello my name is Alfie,
I hope I’m not forgotten.
I came to live in Hornsea
Where they spoil me something rotten.

I had Lindsey fooled today,
She didn’t know where I had gone,
She looked in every room,
But not the right one!

The sun streamed into the kitchen
And the table was quite free,
So I climbed onto the top of it
As you can plainly see!

When she came into the kitchen,
Lin nearly had a fit,
And the place I found so comfy,
I was chased away from it!

As soon as her back was turned,
I saw my chance once more,
But in case she caught me napping,
I kept one eye on the door.

The sun was shining brightly,
It was so nice and warm,
But when she found me sleeping
Sunshine turned into a storm.

She ranted and she raved at me
I had to climb off there
Slunk back into the other room
To snuggle up in the best chair.

All the best

Alfie

Alfie Do you remember Alfie (aka Junior, but never at our house). I just found this poem. I wrote it on his first anniversary with us.

He arrived over a year ago,

Stood full square in the garden

Fixed me with that look!

‘If you think you can stop me

From jumping over that fence,

You have another thing coming!’

But I did stop him!

He’s still here!

The defiant stare

Has gone.

Now it’s softer,

More

‘I think I love you’

Than

‘Who do you think you are?’

And I love him too.

All legs and paws

And his look

Of contentment

And belonging.

Delboy and Rodders

Delboy and Rodders I rescued these cats in February 2010 from HAWT when they were rescued from the bedroom of a one bedroomed flat with no food or water and left surrounded by their own faeces and needles when their owner overdosed.

I went to the HAWT to see them (then named Ken and Terry) after seeing them on the website I was surprised how quiet they were for two young males.

After passing the house check we brought them home now re-named Delboy and Rodders as we see them as brothers and because they lived in a high rise flat. They both settled in well and relish the outdoor world.

They have great characters, Del being the lazy older brother that loves nothing better than a lap to sit on and someone to head butt for a tickle. Rodders on the other hand prefers tree climbing, bird hunting and getting locked in neighbours sheds and garages but will occasionally wander onto your knee just to wrestle with his brother.

It's a shame what they had to go through before they were rescued, we have even found cigarette burn scars on Del's chest and leg, but hopefully that's all forgotten now all he has to worry about is the weather and what's for tea!

The photo shows Del in the foreground and Rodders in the background, chilling in the shade as they get far too hot being black in the sun.

Sonny

Sonny Hi There,

Thought I’d send you a ‘happy ending’ for ‘Sonny’ who I got from you as a pup in June 2010. He was fostered with Sue West as part of an unwanted litter of 8 and is a collie cross. As soon as I saw him, I knew he was ‘the one’ for us!

He was only almost 12 weeks old when he came to us and a lively bag of energy! He had us up at 5am every morning! He was just adorable though and so cheeky! I posted his photo on my facebook page and have never had so many comments – everyone fell in love with him! He almost looks like a cross between a lion cub and a fox!

I lost my flip flops (totally chewed) and a pair of shoes to his sharp puppy teeth! All the family love him and come around regularly to play with him. He especially likes children and plays with them for hours!

He’s now almost 19 weeks old and is growing quickly – he has lovely long athletic legs and loves going out for a walk with us and playing in the beck! We’re so taken with him and are extremely pleased we made the decision to take a puppy on. We look forward to all the future years to come with him and many long walks!

Jake

Jake You may remember us, the couple who came in and adopted one of your dogs, Jake.

He came into you with his mum and brother and ended up being a long term resident of HAWT. WE ONLY CAME IN FOR A VISIT AND ENDED UP TAKING HIM HOME on Boxing Day (2009)....Awwwwh!!

It's great to see how well Jake had settled in. He really is a big part of the family now and thoroughly enjoys the great outdoors and accompanies us on some very, very long walks.

Bracken, our seven year old collie enjoys his company and will often play a “heated” tug of war game in our back garden.

He has his own bed and allows us to share it at bed time and wherever the “parents” are you will always find both the dogs.

Overall he has settled in very well. You could say that Jake has landed on all four feet!

Keep up the good work, Sam & Fi
