Bertie
Bertie came to us as Theo in 2008 when his owners could no longer care for him.
Bertie says
'do you remember me? I left the centre
1st September 2008 and I'm just letting you know that I'm very happy in my new home, well looked after, have put on weight but gets lots of exercise, walks and being chased especially when I steal things I shouldn't have. I even have my own table to sit on in the front room so I can look out of the window and watch the world go by.
Thank for looking after me and finding my new mum dad which I think are fantastic.
Love Bertie.

Rusty and Dolly
To all the staff at Hull Animal Welfare
We thought you would like to have a photo so you can see how much we've grown and how well we are getting on in our new home.
I am Rusty the brown and white collie (my name with you was Lomond) I was re homed aged fourteen weeks on 5th August 2006
My sister is Dolly, she's the black and brown cross. We kept her name as it suited her well. She was re homed with us aged six months on 10th November 2007.
We are very happy with our family. We are loved and cared for and really enjoy playing in the garden, walking and playing on the beach and in the sea.
Thank you for finding us new homes
Love from Rusty Dolly and The Capes Family.

Stella Bobtail
Stella once lived at Hull Animal Welfare and now look at her !
Shane and Natalie of Bridlington re homed Stella Spring 2009. They love her to bits. She has been to Dalby Forest to see the bridal stones - she loved it there. She has settled well with them and put on a bit of weight. Everyone always asks what happened to her tail? but we say she was born like that and we call her Stella Bobtail which adds to her cheeky character. She goes in the garden in summer to catch the rays whilst she eats a lolly. She's also got a paddling pool which she loves. She gets on well with our cat Jeffery.
We would just like to say thanks to Animal Welfare - Stella's great.

Kira
From Kira in Bridlington
Greetings to all my friends at the Sanctuary
I must write and tell you I've decided to stay here with Freda and Tom after all.
It has taken me a while to get use to some of the funny ways the two of them have but I reckon that I've just about got them trained to my way of working.
They take me along on two walks, one in a morning and one in the afternoon which seemed a bit strange in the beginning but I quite like the open spaces and the sea air now with all the new smells.
I'm not too bothered when we meet other humans walking with their friends but it seems that it's something that we do when we stop and talk, so I expect I'll learn how to do it in time.
I'm really not too interested in people and their four legged friends. Perhaps it's because I haven't been around too many of them before. They're all so very friendly as well.
Freda and Tom let me have the top brick off the chimney (so they say). I still can't persuade them to let me onto their two fireside chairs but that's the only hardship I have to suffer. I just make do with the settee.
It's coming up to diner time now and I need my carbs - I'm a growing puppy you know.
All the best from us at number 12.
Kira Freda and Tom

Cookie
Scruff arrived at the centre 1st October 2009 with Bob a large Labrador type. Their owner worked away and his disabled wife couldn’t cope with the dogs.
Scruff was chosen by Lesley and family about the end of October 2009 and they have written to tell us how delighted they are with the newly named Cookie (because she is chocolate coated and very sweet).
‘‘She is really good in the house, putting herself happily into her basket at bedtime and when we go out. She is always ready for a walk (she has four walks most days) and is learning to sit to have her harness and lead put on. She loves travelling in the car especially if there is a walk on the beach at the end of the journey.
We were worried at first that she was not eating very much – she would eat the tinned food and leave all the complete – but now she finishes up every scrap! She was a bit overweight at first but has lost just over half a kilo so far and could probably do with loosing another half kilo.
She has learned to ‘sit’ on command and we are working on ‘down’ now. We are also working on a long-term goal of getting her to come back when called as she is so keen to socialise with the other dogs on the beach or at the park that she forgets to come back!’

Kandi
Kandi, a happy playful dog, stayed with us for some time. Eventually she was re homed and she has contacted us:
“To all the volunteers, thank you so much for looking after me during my long six months at the centre” Kandi xxxx
Her new owners say she’s great, the best and latest addition of the family! She has fitted in well and settled down really quickly! Kandi is so playful – just full of love! She is loved by us and also all our friends and family.
